Our Little Mermaid

One thing that I personally get a big kick out of, is my kids' ability to kick a ball, skateboard, swim, etc. I was a stay inside, read and watch tv kid, plus we weren't big in my family on doing the swim lesson thing. I never tried a sport until sixth grade and it was very clear, from the outset, that the athletic ability had skipped me and headed straight for my sister. So, when one of my progeny excels at--heck, is even able to do--something athletic, I just love it. Here is Marley today at swim lessons jumping off the diving board. (It may help to put this in some context: Marley is just six years old and can swim better than I did. . . in fact, I didn't even learn to float until the summer after second grade.)

Isn't she cute?

I have tried to convince her that nose holding isn't really necessary, but shoot, who really cares?

There she goes!

Splash! Yeah, Marley!
