The week ahead. . .

It is 10:20 pm on Monday night and we are looking a big week ahead. Tomorrow night we start FAM JAM which is a family-based vacation Bible school program. Family-based? What does that mean, Mary? Well, dear readers, it means Paul and I get to go with Marley and watch skits, learn motions to go with songs, play kid games, eat kid snacks and help do kid crafts. Criminee!

Now officially, I'm on board with this. I believe strongly in supporting the leaders in our church. But, just between you and me, I'm not all that excited about it. Give me a traditional, leave the kids at the door of the church, VBS. But, tomorrow, come 6:30 pm, I'll be there with my game face on! Go Big Top!

I did spend (along with Colin, Paul and my friend, Carol) a few hours cutting ribbon, lacing lanyard ribbon through name tags, x-acto blading cardboard seals. What I was doing was only a fraction, an infinitesimal fraction, of the work that has been done by a load of volunteers and our children's ministers. I know that Marley and a ton of other kids are going to have a blast and that the work will all have been worth it.

In addition to VBS, we'll be watching my friend's foster kids for a couple of days and I'll be trying to get together with some out of town friends. . .

So, we'll be keeping busy the second full week of summer. How about you?
