Well, here he is: Smokey the Guinea Pig. He is approximately 6-9 months old. He joined our famiy around 1:30 today. So far, we are all doing fine. $1.41 of the purchase price was contributed by Marley using her tooth fairy money (one dollar, one quarter, one dime, one nickel, one penny equals $1.41!)
Research into guinea pigs has led to the following realizations:
a) Guinea pigs can't use wheels or rolly balls. That is such a bummer.
b) Guinea pigs really do better in pairs, so keep you eyes open for the addition of another male piggy, probably an older one.
Marley is ecstatic. Bonus: Colin likes him, too. We need to acclimate him to people. He was not socialized being in a pet store cage, probably for a couple of months. He has short hair and beautiful brown eyes. It ought to be interesting. We are guinea pig people now. Watch out!

Well, I couldn't wait and bought another guinea pig today. This was is gray and white, so I'll have to say that one is the one that looks like Paul. I guess I've had my hair close to the two colors of tan/brown on Smokey... Hmmmmm.
How adorable they are. I was always jealous of my friend Lisa (when we were 7) because she had two guinea pigs. I can still remember the smell ;o)
Would love to come over and hold one sometime.
