Well, tonight's the night...
Everything will be all right...
The kids go back to school tomorrow! Yippee!!!!
Actually, it hasn't been too bad. Colin, of course, kept himself entertained, and even if he didn't, he heeded my advice (read: threat) that I didn't, under any circumstances, want to hear him use the word "Bored" over vacation. It slipped out once but he caught himself immediately. Marley needs more help keeping entertained but she had lots of opportunities to see friends with a little Disneyland thrown in for good measure.
So with vacation over and a new week about to begin, we get back to the routine of harried mornings trying to get everyone out the door, me trying to walk or do some other exercise almost daily, establishing a routine that works when Paul is home and establishing a routine that at least comes close to working when he is gone, etc.
Colin's first semester of high school will be coming to a close in a few weeks. I have a feeling more homework will be coming his way in the second semester. If for no other reason than he has a new game system and I'm sure the fates will conspire to keep him away from it.
Marley will continue with Brownies and I think she will participate in an actual Girl Scout cookie sale. I have always only been on the receiving end of those cookies. So, this will mean that my usual sources won't have us to support them AND we'll be going around begging for sales... after the Christmas wrap fundraiser... and the frozen cookie dough fundraiser. Yikes! Our friends are going to run when they see us coming.
In addition to Brownies, Marley will be playing coed basketball through the end of February. this was all my bright idea of course and the Princess has been three parts displeased and two parts intrigued. The biggest drawback is the lack of enough girls on the team. I think that problem started working itself out at the end of the first game this past Saturday. Marley refused to play except for the last five minutes and even that, I doubt she would have done if the other girl on the team hadn't finally showed up.
I'll leave you with a few pictures:
