- I am not a morning person. With Paul out of town, Colin needing to be a summer school at 7:30 and Marley at gymnastics camp at 8:30, I am having to get up at 6:30. Blech!
- I keep forgetting to share what I overheard Marley's swim teacher say to her one day. Marley had started holding her head up when she did her back float. This makes your middle sink and soon the rest of you follows. The teacher was trying to explain that keeping your head back would help. After explaining this to Marley, she said, "I know it is counterintuitive." I almost laughed out loud right there and then. Counterintuitive? That's an awfully big word to use on a six year old. I laughed because Marley has no idea what it means. I laughed because I know the teacher didn't really expect her to know. It just slipped out. Grown up talk, that is. I laughed because I can't tell you how many times I will be trying to explain something to Colin and he just looks at me and says, "I have no idea what you are talking about. What does (fill big word in the blank) mean?" Then, I, Miss Smartypants has to try to give the definition of a word I know how to use but I can't quite explain the right way.
- Colin's last day of summer school is tomorrow and it can't come a day too soon. He is so great about getting himself up and ready but that kid is draggin' right now. He needs the next three weeks before school starts.
- I started a new meme at my other blog, Life, the Universe and Everything. It is called Sleeping with Bread. If you don't know, a meme is basically a game that gets passed from blog to blog. Because I am the Queen of Everything Deep and Meaningful, I--of course--have a more serious minded meme. It is a great opportunity to take some time to reflect on your week. If you don't head over there that often, I'd love for you to check it out.
- Gymnastics camp has been a blast for Marley so far, but what I get when she comes home is Marley Allyn Crabbypants. She is so exhausted by the end of the day. The good news is that she passes out at a decent hour every night because of that.
- The guinea pigs are growing and thriving although Marley says they don't like her any more. First of all, they don't like anybody unless you have a treat in your hand. They tolerate being held but just barely. Secondly, wouldn't you avoid a big, blonde-haired giant who routinely walked by your house and shouted at you? I would!
- Even though I've been complain-y about life in general, I did have a very nice brunch with my friend Sharon on Monday. We used to get together on a weekly basis but haven't been able to do that for awhile. It is so nice to be in her company. I look forward to that happening more frequently when school is back in session.
- Again, in spite of all the general moaning and groaning, I do also get to have lunch with my sister-in-law on Thursday. She and I don't get together very often but always have lots and lots to say when we do! It is a pleasure having a sister-in-law who is also a very good friend!
Ciao for now! Look, in addition to rambling on forever and a day I can rhyme!
