What's goin' on. . .

Let's see . . . This week has been somewhat full but is really just a kickoff to the crazy month of May which will lead directly into the looooooooooong first days of June. The image in my head is that of a kid running down hill, arms akimbo. At the start, the run is somewhat controlled but by the end all you can do is try not to fall on your face.

We've had orthodontic x-rays for Colin to see how those teeth look after the braces sojourn. I had a doctor's appointment to do a little seeking. Nothing good like painkillers, just some Frovatryptan for migraines. ;)

In addition to the usual Mighty Mites practices, Marley and I went on a field trip to a strawberry field with her class. It was a lot of fun but funny that Marley and I both don't eat strawberries. I'm also bummed because I've got some great pictures of the outing which I can't show you because the camera and the computer are having a fight and won't talk to each other right now. So, you'll have to make do with these two pictures of:

- Marley and two friends from church. This picture was taken with the camera she received as a present. They seem to like having their picture taken.

- Marley and Nibbler this week. We have a little pattern established of guinea pig play time. In the mornings, she has to have eaten breakfast and be completely ready for school before she can play with them. After she is ready for the day, we put a trash bag on the couch and cover it with a towel. She picks up Nibbler and pets and feeds him for a few minutes before heading out to school. Sometimes Smokey gets to join in, too.

In the afternoon, depending on the weather, we set up the portable piggy play pen on the front yard or in the living room and put both piggies in. She crawls in there and hangs out with them for awhile. We'll leave them in there to play even when she is done because piggys are supposed to have lots of floor time. Tell that to Smokey and Nibbler please. They just huddle together and are missing out on valuable cardiovascular activity.

Close to bedtime, we do the couch routine again. This has actually been a great tool to get Marley to cooperate with teeth brushing, etc. Sometimes, if there isn't time for the couch, I'll put Nibbler in the little pet cozy we bought, lined with a hand towel for extra protection and put him in bed with Marley. She likes to lay there and pet him. Once he gets a little restless, we pop him back in the condo and off to sleep land for Marley.

Let's see. Paul played a show out at a small coffeehouse on Monday that is further inland. He's working on doing this more and more. The next time out is May 25th that is closeby. Unfortunately, his attempts to get practices in with a full band haven't been too successful lately.

Ummm. . . Colin's birthday is next week, tomorrow we head out to my cousin Candace's for her sons' birthday party, I lead the women's study tomorrow morning. That is pretty funny because I just did 5 days worth of the study this morning and 5 more days to do before 8:00 am.

Coming in the merry month of May and early days of June:

  • A friend's wedding
  • gymnastics and more gymnastics
  • science project for Colin
  • family birthday dinner for both kids
  • pool party at Coach Amy's house
  • make dinners for Alpha group at church for Mary
  • worship rehearsal and Sunday worship for Paul
  • Infocomm for Paul (11 days again. yuck, yuck, yuck)
And that's just what I can remember for now. Pray and Paul and I can keep on our toes, keep all the plates juggling, or whatever other analogy you can think of. He and I don't do "busy schedule" very well.

Love you all. Have a great weekend and Mother's Day!
